After 24+ hours of on duty station time as a major storm dumped roughly 25+ inches of snow on the county, the 36 house had an eventful Super Bowl Sunday. The day started off with a vehicle accident on Camp Betty Washington Road where a driver slid off the snow-covered roadway down a steep decline. The driver and passenger were afraid to get out of the vehicle for fear that it may slide or roll down the hill. Rescue 36 arrived and secured the vehicle with a winch and assisted everyone out of the vehicle. The accident was shortly followed by an odor of natural gas in the area of one of the many banks along Route 24. The problem was determined to be a gas line, which was broken by the weight of the snow plowed from the roadway. The third call of the day was for Rescue 36 to assist Station 35 on a vehicle fire. Crews arrived to find an engine compartment fire in a Volkswagen Bug. Hopefully 3 calls is it for the day as 36 personnel look forward to watching Super Bowl XLIV.
